This piece, entitled "Femme au Pieuvre," or "Woman with Octopus," by Fran?ois-Rupert Carabin, is a brown glazed ceramic inkwell wherein a woman ecstatically rips open the head of an octopus, spilling its ink. A beautiful play on an ancient means of sourcing ink, this sculpture's tranquility and solidity give it the aura of an ancient carving.
